I’m sorry this page is so unholy long… Eventually the wolves with longer bios (ideally everyone, really) will get their own pages, but for now deal with scrolling hell.
Also see the pack pages on the Jackdaws and the Boreas wolves, which is a general overview of both groups.
Also also, the “personality” word is increasingly useless, but it’s always a character starting point so what the hell it’s noted anyway.
living
Diorite
Y0 | Trusting
One of three founders of Jackdaw’s Flight, and subsequently considered leader alongside Andesite. Although typically friendly and easygoing, when he fights he goes for the throat. His laid-back leadership created a fairly egalitarian group that functions more as an extended family than a formal society, but his penchant for seemingly-random violence concerns the pack and outsiders alike.
- initially recruited anyone who showed interest, but Andesite advised him otherwise & glaucous proved willing to chase off slackers
- has always mentioned the questing snake, but it doesn’t visit frequently
- exploring aggression increased after Bone left
- feels karmically responsible for Flint’s death
- was aware of own reputation before leaving the Maw, but genuinely clueless as to the source of cougar attack other than recognizing the cougar
- attempted diplomacy during first encounter with Boreas
- assaulting Silverback was entirely voluntary and also dumb
- lashed out when Leveret left, but has since tried to lie low and focus on home-finding
- went on a journey to ~find himself~ with Esker and Moulin in Y5 spring/summer, which didn’t amount to much but he learned to fish gud
- he’s reaaaaally been lying low since Leveret left. lots of Ls in that sentence. Diorite has indeed taken many an L in his lifetime, so
the questing snake
Tala visited Diorite, Andesite, and Talak in a dream preceding the pack’s foundation; this, they can all validate. But only Diorite has met the “questing snake,” a mysterious reptile who sporadically visits Diorite’s dreams with demands for bloodshed. Odd as it is, Diorite trusts the snake; listening to them at least gives him a sense of purpose.
Andesite
Y0 | Observant
One of three founders of Jackdaw’s Flight, and subsequently considered leader alongside Diorite. Oversees day-to-day activities and frequently advises Diorite on pack management, but generally trusts the pack to manage themselves. Tends to appear standoffish due to her strong radar for (and low tolerance of) bullshit, but maintains at least cordial relations with the entire pack; has stepped down from scouting and joined the hunt in an effort to interact with them all more as an equal.
- typically defers to Diorite’s word even if she strongly suggests otherwise, from recruitment to moving, but drew the line when it came to (attempted) murder
- injured while scouting before the cougar attack and subsequently fought poorly; subsequently began thinking of how she could be with the pack more, both as a strategic defense (more friendship = less likely to face a rank challenge) and personally (wants to get to know them better)
- took responsibility for damage control after Diorite attacked Silverback; Silverback mentioned she, alongside basically everyone but Diorite, would be welcome in Boreas if they ever changed their mind
- has since actually switched to hunting; got an inexplicable makeover during some abrupt and dramatic (but harmless) Incident in Y5 Spring
Husk Orilet-Hawkeye
Y1 Spring | Keen
Diorite and Andesite’s firstborn (from a litter of two, alongside Bone). Takes after her mother’s decisiveness; lacks the observational attention to match, but tries her best as a chaser in Hawk’s Eyes. Despite recent turmoil, devoted to the Jackdaws and would like her family to continue existing as the independent pack they are.
- first to hear Bone was thinking of leaving and misses his pensive ass, but wishes him well
- as a yearling, became the fifth and final member of Hawk’s Eyes
- basically no matter how much shit the pack goes through she will die on the Jackdaws’ hill, because she 1) genuinely loves them and considers them (and especially Hawk’s Eyes) family, and 2) has never known anything else
She takes her first surname Orilet from the wolf who raised her, Oriole Epaulet, and suggested the second in support of Talak’s hunting party name idea.
glaucous
Y1 Spring | Stoic/Aloof
A wolf of few words; no bark, all stare, some bite. Devoted scout, even at the cost of her health, and something of an enigma to a majority of the pack. Only voluntarily spends time with Diorite, who reached out and bonded with her over being a distemper sufferer & survivor; he seems to be the only one who truly understands she just doesn’t like to talk, and subsequently he’s the only wolf here she trusts.
- deemed similar-looking recruit redundant on arrival and subsequently chased her off, along with other would-be mainstays—namely including Monsoon, who was freeloading
- established herself as scout very early on
- survived distemper but left with hardened pads/nose, maaaybe tics? never figured those out
- had pups with Diorite, which was unfortunate
- inadvertently recruited Wickfen after they kept encountering each other during glaucous’ scouts
- finally stopped being passively outcast by the rest of the pack c. Y4/5 and subsequently joined the second hunting party
- brought two pups home shortly after that as a Symbol of Character Development. they left but the development is still a thing
Glaucous is mute and her “name” is a wordless gesture, which doesn’t translate linguistically and only Diorite knows it. The pack called her glaucous so long that, when they refer to her aloud, it stuck. Because of this odd unofficial nature, “glaucous” as name doesn’t need to be capitalized—although it might be anyway, if it makes the sentence clearer.
Carcass
Y2 Spring | Obnoxious
A straggler from a pack that was moving when Carcass lost them; the circumstances remain unclear, but Carcass was a reject and once he found the Peak he did not go back. Also something of an enigma to the Jackdaws, but more accepted than glaucous. Has replaced Idril permanently as stalker of Hawk’s Eyes and holds this responsibility close.
- reject from the lead’s first litter; littermate is a literal golden boy
- former pack was moving from Riparian Woodlands (to Taiga, but not my lore)
- Oriole tried to convince Carcass to help pupsit; Carcass was like “eh” and did nothing
- took Idril’s place as stalker instead, temporarily
- subsequently hunted solo; Oriole joined later, and Hallow later still
- was not interested in hunting with Wickfen or vice versa
- took over as Hawk’s Eyes stalker For Good when Idril retired, has been there since
- has been bonding with Husk in the background or something idk, they’ll probably breed eventually
- possibly not too fond of Moulin because of Superior Golden Boy Brother Issues, but has gotten over it for the good of the team
Micah
Y2 Summer | Charming
Myrtle’s son; secondborn brother to three littermates, all of whom left the pack by Year 3 Spring. As his mother planned, Micah took an early affinity to herbalism, and proved not only eager to follow her pawsteps but to do so in his birth pack. Much-beloved by the pack, if something of a worrywart with trust issues as of recent months.
- only pup from Y2 who stayed
- grew up knowing full well Myrtle was gonna die and she had her litter in hopes someone would stick around to replace her
- fast friends with Wickfen early on but they drifted with time/age
- stonks.jpg
- befriended some wolf outside the pack; they were a spy for the cougar pack, but defended Micah in battle
- oh yeah, and he had distemper back in Y3 Autumn
- friend/spy ended up being Lichen and he was kinda smad about it. may or may not still be smad about it tbh
- she did get distemper though so idk ig they’ve talked about stuff by now surely
Wickfen
Y3 Spring | Humble
A loner from the prairie; in Glaucous’ peripheral awareness throughout Year 2 Winter, and finally introduced himself when weather warmed. Often appears timid and anxious, but confidence has grown with time and he’s always been surprisingly strong-willed. Hunts alongside best friend Zephyr in what’s becoming the pack’s second major/long-standing hunting party.
- raised knowing he’d be chased on adulthood; the pack was good (they just didn’t have space or resources, and he wasn’t the only one) but he still felt :,\ about it
- befriended Micah early but they drifted
- did not vibe with Carcass or Oriole; subsequently hunted solo
- befriended Zephyr, who subsequently joined the pack
- mostly just chills in the background hunting with her
- felt a little weird at first about the party expanding via Andesite, Glaucous, and Lichen, but is ultimately cool with it. possibly still goes out with Zephyr alone sometimes, just for old time’s sake
Zephyr
Y3 Summer | Optimistic
A chipper hunter who was traveling alone when she met Wickfen, who hunted solo (and poorly) at the time; decided to help his efforts in the long term as a friend/mentor, and was subsequently welcomed to the pack.
Liesl Aspen
Y3 Winter | Bossy
- born shortly before the move from coniferous forest; earliest memories are chaotic
- while living with the Boreas wolves, lost siblings Grackle & Osier to Hallow’s negligence and a random bird
- hunted with Hawk’s Eyes as an adolescent
- took mothers’ deaths as a signal to devote herself even more to the pack to carry on their legacy
- did not react kindly to Jackrabbit’s leave; not too open to Husk’s outreach (at least not initially, maybe warmed up later)
- became a scout instead of a hunter out of conviction the Jackdaws need to pay attention to their neighbors (and also to keep tabs on Jackrabbit)
- basically just super loyal to the Jackdaws as a concept because they’re all she’s ever known; totally gunning for leadership when Diorite kicks the bucket
Esker
Y4 Summer (first appearance) | Scatterbrained
- scatterbrained devotee to some strict & heavily-ritual-oriented tundra/glacier religion centered around the eternally hunting spirits of the borealis (not related to Boreas wolves)
- got exiled because they couldn’t keep up with all the rituals; saw it as an opportunity to Prove Themself
- met up with Leveret and was like “this is it this is the Trial”
- assumed Moulin’s shining imaginary friend was like, A Goddess, and yeeted with the lad after two pups died
- to be fair, Moulin did get a dramatic makeover
- talked Diorite into a big ~revelatory~ journey to the tundra/glacier that didn’t actually answer anything but they felt good about it ig
Moulin
Y4 Autumn | Dedicated
- Leveret’s only surviving pup
- had an imaginary friend that was like “mom, but Better” and Esker was like “that is a goddess vision”
- completely let that go to his head (and it was his only source of validation/coping, to be fair) and is now something of a $borealisReligion fanboy
- the Jackdaws have 0% spirituality proficiency so they don’t really Get It, but Esker’s sticking around and thus so is Moulin
- everyone finds it hard to believe Moulin is related to Leveret including himself
- he does do the chasing thing good though
- has some kinda Dynamic with melabean
Lichen
Y4 Autumn | Observant
- that spy from the coniferous cougar pack that wrecked the Jackdaws’ shit (although Lichen herself defended Micah)
- clearly something was happening in that pack because she was like adol-age at the time
- got kicked out right after The Drama
- eventually caught up with the Jackdaws again when the Aspen family revisited their namesake parkland and Oriole died
- more or less stalked them from a distance for months, then stepped out in Y4 Autumn like “uhh guys hi there’s no reason you should trust me but don’t you kinda need to settle somewhere for the winter? i know a spot”
- Micah didn’t trust like that but Hallow did and consensus said she could stay, so she stayed
- glaucous acted as a sort of distant mentor for a while there; they both joined Wickfen, Zephyr, and Andesite as hunters, forming a second party
- got distemper at one point; presumably reconciled with Micah
[Andesite’s pups]
Y6 Spring | Scatterbrained, Lazy, Humble, and Observant
- lbr only humble snow is gonna stick around
[melabean]
Y6 Spring | Neutral
- heard all this stuff about ~mysterious melanistic wolves in the north~ except the mutation was already going out of style by the time he was born, let alone hit adulthood, So
- the Jackdaws sure as hell never heard of it
- witnessed Hallow and Drove’s deaths to some extent; probably helped drag their bodies back or something
dead/unknown
Ordered chronologically by pack leave. Sold wolves not included.
Monsoon
Y1 Summer–Autumn | Sneaky
First wolf to be chased from the pack. Prior to this, visitors were allowed to stay at the Maw however long they wanted, with or without contributing to the pack; Monsoon tested that boundary. When he caught influenza at the start of summer, Glaucous chased him out.
Jackrabbit
Y1 Winter–Y2 Spring | Sneaky
Leveret and Drove’s younger sibling. Temporarily took shelter in Jackdaw’s Peak without realizing his siblings were around; dissatisfied by the pack’s role-oriented life. Bone shared this discontent, and the two agreed to leave together in the spring. Although Jackrabbit tried to convince Bone to sneak away, Bone instead announced their leave, and both bid the pack farewell on good terms.
Bone
Y1 Spring–Y2 Spring | Fair
Diorite and Andesite’s secondborn; brother of Husk. Takes after his father’s levelheadedness but doesn’t assume good faith by default. Although quieter than his sister, learned a lesson in asserting himself before (and by) leaving the pack.
He and Husk enjoyed a sheltered puphood & adolescence, but unlike Husk, Bone took less enthusiastically to Oriole’s role-driven upbringing. Initially he confided only in his sister, but when he realized this dissatisfaction was shared with a winter visitor and older friend, Jackrabbit, Bone proposed they leave the pack and subsequently travel together. Jackrabbit suggested they slip away unnoticed, but Bone decided to make the decision public; thus, when they set out when Bone was a yearling, they left Jackdaw’s Peak on good terms.
Year 2: The Lost Pups
Y2 Spring–Y3 Spring | various
In something of a celebrative haze during the winter of Year 1, Jackdaw’s Peak was feeling secure about its place in the mountains. Between this and a laissez-faire attitude towards breeding (though none of this was strictly intentional), it wasn’t long before three became pregnant; two to males beyond the border, and another sired by Diorite himself. Apprehension greeted the new litters; the Maw was already crowded, all but guaranteeing they’d all need to leave by adulthood unless the pack could find and establish a new home before then, and Oriole alone would be chiefly responsible for all the pups.
At Husk’s suggestion, the new youth were allowed significant freedom growing up. For some, this proved fatal, as their curiosity and rowdiness took them to death’s door; but to others, it was a blessing, as they found new homes while young and left strong and healthy. Towards the end of the season, herbalist Myrtle decided to have pups of her own as well, and between her own efforts and both pupsitters (Idril was denbound by injury), all four survived well into adolescence. (As they weren’t lost, they aren’t included here sans sidebar record.)
Nonetheless, the lost pups have not been forgotten by the pack.
Gravel, Flint, and Basalt
Bossy, Vulgar, and Optimistic
Andesite’s litter, to whom she was no more attached than she was to Husk and Bone. Early into Spring, Flint suffered a small injury from a romp away from the Maw, which served as a harbinger for disaster to come. As summer changed to Autumn, Flint was found mangled outside a bear den.
Despite this, Gravel and Basalt survived into adulthood mostly unscathed. Gravel was rowdier of the two, and a fight with Milu left them both injured; the latter succumbed to unnoticed wounds shortly after. Although Basalt remained cautiously optimistic about his future prospects in the pack, Gravel had other ideas; with her commanding attitude, she rallied the remaining youth come Spring Year 3 and organized their collective leave. Basalt hesitated, but ultimately followed, and with his departure the lost litters of Year 2 were no more.
Taru, [marigold], Milu, and Brocket
Dishonest, Arrogant, Conceited, and Adventurous
Idril’s litter, whose existence she denied until she couldn’t. Upon their birth she immediately felt attached; in a feverish denial, she became severely while hunting shortly early into summer, and while denbound took up pupsitting. By then, Taru had paid a visit to and been bitten by a neighboring pack, which spiked tensions within the Peak.
Disaster struck in the Summer, when Taru’s body was found in what came to be known as Quartzen Trench. This left his siblings, already fairly high-strung, more tense than ever; Aza left for another pack (where she’d gain her name), and then Milu got in a scuffle with Gravel over food. The resulting injuries ultimately killed him.
Despite it all, Brocket stayed with the pack well through adolescence, and grew physically unscathed despite his own adventurous nature. He eventually reconciled with Gravel over his brother’s death, and joined her plan to leave the pack when all the youth were old enough. Of all his littermates, Brocket interacted most with Idril from the start, and they parted on speaking terms; still, the best Brocket can say about Idril and the Peak is that a life with them wasn’t the kind of adventure he’s looking for.
Cobble, Aphid, and Cricket
Dutiful, Sneaky, and Reliable
Glaucous’ litter with Diorite, to whom she was indifferent at best; born about half a month after the others, and arguably most neglected. Though pups had suffered injury by early Summer, none had died, and Cricket felt bold enough to try establishing herself “leader of the bees”—only to get stung for her efforts. And then Taru went missing and subsequently died, followed soon by Cobble’s anticlimactic demise via bone lodged in his throat.
From here and all throughout the rest of the year, Aphid and Cricket laid low, and suffered no (further) injury late into adolescence—though Cricket spitefully led Myrtle’s pup Sage to become another bee leader, and everybody disliked that. Come Winter, Aphid had contracted cough, and told no one; it passed to Cricket by Spring.
Gravel, suspecting that this untreated illness was kept hidden less out of spite and more for lack of will to live, urged the two to join her and the others (herself, her brother Basalt, Brocket, and even Sage) in leaving the pack together. Just as planned, away they went, with no one to stop them.
Moriche Epaulet
Y3 Spring | Dutiful
Wanderer from the same pack as Oriole. After something of a visitor drought, Moriche [… Apparently I never finished this. Amazing.]
Myrtle
Y0 | Imaginative
An early recruit and the token “oldie,” Myrtle was surprised but delighted to find the founding trio (Diorite, Andesite, and Talak) living in Cougar’s Maw and quickly offered to help out. She had an extremely brief stint as scout (while Andesite nursed pups Husk and Bone), during which Myrtle reconnected with an inter-biome herb + food trading network; subsequently, she became the pack’s herbalist.
Myrtle filled her herbalist niche with a puppylike joy, though despite her attempts to interest Husk, Bone, Carcass, and other youth in taking her place, none showed long-term interest. On the heels of a rather depressing pup season in Y2, she decided to have a litter of her own while she still physically could, both to boost morale and in hopes at least one would take to herbalism. That pup ended up being Micah, secondborn of four, and she trained him with full knowledge she might pass before he grew up. Still, when the pack considered moving, she refused to let them put it off til her death, even if it meant losing the network; she trusted Micah to reestablish that connection when the Jackdaws settled again.
Ultimately, Myrtle lived to see Micah reach adulthood and then some. After months of slowing down, in the middle of Y3 Autumn, she died peacefully in her sleep. She was well over 7 years young, and this marked the pack’s first adult death; they mourned her loss deeply.
Oriole Epaulet-Aspen
Y0 | Confident
An early recruit who originally pledged to hunt, but ended up raising the leads’ pups Husk & Bone. Circumstance conspired from there to keep Oriole in a pupsitting position for years. She brought the surname tradition to Jackdaw’s Peak, along with a self-assured and role-driven attitude that she raised every pup in her care to emulate. Some, like Husk, took to this better than others; Bone was among the latter, however, who found the need for purpose stifling and left the pack when he grew.
Nonetheless, a sense of duty kept Oriole driven—at least until Year 2, when the sheer volume of pups born to the pack overwhelmed her. At Husk’s suggestion she softened her watch, a decision which would prove fatal to multiple pups. Through this difficult time Oriole found support in Idril, who’d been denbound from injury, and the unlikely duo bonded closely. By Year 3 they were considering a shared surname, and formally announced their mateship that summer.
At that point, Oriole had “retired” from pupsitting and joined the hunt to support Carcass, who’d been going solo until then. Newcomer Hallow had also joined the pack, with the clear intention of fathering pups for Oriole. The idea stuck; his contribution did not. Though they didn’t fully expect it to work given their ages, the Aspens arranged with fellow hunter Drove to serve as surrogate father. The ensuing pregnancy, due in winter, forced Oriole and Idril to drop hunting and become pupsitters once more.
While the pups’ births seemed to lay rest to the family’s fears, the pack suffered a surprise attack at the end of the season, and the forced exodus landed them with the Boreas wolves—a strange and powerful pack to which Hallow had unfortunate connections. When the pups were in his watch, two perished. Oriole never forgave him for this. However, she saw to it that the survivors, Liesl and Jackrabbit, were well on their way to adolescence, before passing away during one last hunt with them and Idril.
Despite being well over 7 years old, Oriole’s death was unanticipated, especially compared to Myrtle’s long-expected demise. She was the second adult wolf to die in the pack, and survived by her family, including pups both biological and watched alike.
She takes her first surname Epaulet from her old pack, and shares her second Aspen with Idril and their pups (Liesl, Jackrabbit, Grackle, and Osier).
Grackle & Osier Aspen
Y3 Winter–Y4 Spring | Imaginative & Dutiful
- born shortly before the move from coniferous forest; earliest memories are chaotic
- exit, pursued by a bird
Leveret
Y1 Autumn–Y3 Summer Jackdaws, died Y5 Autumn | Trusting
*she ain’t dead and is still very much onsite, but this is when she left the Jackdaws
The older sister of Drove and Jackrabbit (the first), who was searching the grasslands for the former when she met Diorite. Thrilled to find Drove had a place in Jackdaw’s Peak and happily joined to hunt at his side, but remained hesitant to accept the Hawkeye surname even after he took it. However, she was later the most vocal about doubts concerning Diorite’s violent tendencies and overall competence as leader; after months of indecision, Zephyr convinced her to follow her gut and leave.
- similar backstory as Drove, but returned to the parents after family split; encountered Jackrabbit but got chased off for being disloyal, and assumed Jackrabbit stayed with the parents
- put off leaving for a very long time because she didn’t want to start shit, but Zephyr was like “dude no it’s fine just go if you really wanna”
- leaving caused a minor shitstorm anyway
- met Esker, had pups, pups died or left
- so basically her main roles in lore were as Drove’s sis and Moulin’s mom, which is unfortunate but what can ya do. alas sometimes characters end up being satellites who get the short end of the development stick.
Idril Hawkeye
Y0–Y4 Autumn | Obnoxious
An early recruit and the token spitfire; challenged Diorite’s authority on arrival, impressed by his aggressive rebuttal, and insisted on joining the pack from there. Her antagonistic traits have sobered with time and personal turmoil, but she remains the pack’s most proficient (and spirited) stalker. As of Y4 Summer, Idril has decided to spend her final days back on the trail, now alongside Hallow in a sentimental vote of support.
- started out very “yes… i am ~soft beneath it all~… so sensitive… LMAO U THOUGHT”; being a good stalker of all roles surprised everyone
- surprise litter made her :(
- broken leg forcing her to stick around in the den pupsitting made her :((
- bonding with Oriole over pup death tragedy, the toils of pupsitting, and generally being mutually supportive and being wolf gays made her very :D
- kiiinda tried to reconcile with last remaining pup Brocket but it was awkward
- upon returning to Hawk’s Eyes, became third to take the surname
- announced mateship with Oriole during Y3 coniferous forest, surname from mutual favorite hunting place Aspen Parkland
- “retired” from hunting to pupsit with Oriole
- outlived Oriole (was with her when she died during a family hunt)
- resumed hunting with Hallow as a confirmation of both forgiveness and to support his bid for Hawk’s Eyes
- died at the start of the next season, vouched for Hallow before she did. had a dramatic life, have fun with the bio
- it might overlap a lot with Oriole’s but that’s fine, these should be readable as standalones
She took her first surname Hawkeye from the hunting party after a forced hiatus, and shares her second Aspen with Oriole and their pups (Liesl, Jackrabbit, Grackle, and Osier).
[leveret’s lost pups]
Y4 Autumn–Y5 Spring
- she reaaaaally didn’t want kids but tried her best
- alas two died to mysterious causes (humans? coyote/animal attack?); the other stuck with Leveret for a while but then yeeted for another pack
- had no Known names in-lore but maybe there were secret little names Lev gave them, or that they called themselves/each other
Jackrabbit Aspen
Y3 Winter | Obnoxious Humble
- born shortly before the move from coniferous forest; earliest memories are chaotic
- wihle living with the Boreas wolves, dared Grackle & Osier to stray too far; both got snatched up by a starving bird, cue Humble personality shift
- deeply saddened by mothers’ deaths; started to associate the Jackdaws with tragedy
- hunted with Wickfen and Zephyr as an adolescent but never quiiite got into it
- met some Boreas wolf who encouraged him to ~be himself~ even if it’s not what the Jackdaws expected
- consulted with immediate family (Drove, Hallow, Liesl) about leaving; Hallow was like “sure if you don’t mind being an omega,” Drove was disappointed but ultimately said “alright I can’t stop ya, here’s how to hunt solo,” and Liesl… Liesl did not take it well
- rabbits gotta bounce
- current status unknown but presumably still alive with Boreas
Talak Jackdaw-Hawkeye
Y0–Y5 Spring | Imaginative
One of three founders of Jackdaw’s Flight; initially followed Diorite and Andesite just to see what would happen, but by the end of the day Talak was thoroughly attached. Token provocateur, namer of the Hawk’s Eyes hunting party, and shameless rumor mill-churner. Completely and utterly loyal to the pack, where they finally feel like they belong.
- big unlucky streak in the hunt for a while there, but that seems to have worn off
- strong proponent of names being fluid and individuals choosing their own
- Husk considers them a quirky “uncle”
- bantered a lot with Hallow pre-pup deaths, kinda grew distant, then was right back at it when Hallow joined Hawk’s Eyes
- death was from age but also unexpected. big F
They took their first surname Jackdaw from the pack itself, and their second Hawkeye from the hunting team.
Hallow
Y3 Summer–Y6 Spring | Arrogant
A once-mysterious wolf who greeted the pack when they first settled into the coniferous forest. Has since grown loyal to the Jackdaws and desperate to prove it, as burned bridges and past mistakes came to light. As of Year 4 Summer, he hunts with Idril in hopes of joining Hawk’s Eyes.
- so basically he had a whole-ass character arc, which has been more explicit and dramatic than even the Aspens’ because their pre-Jackdaw backstories were never fleshed out and later developments were mostly concerning Them. Hallow’s drama has impacted everyone
- TL;DR: rolled to seduce Mouse, failed, exiled or fled or something → found Jackdaws, rolled to seduce Oriole, failed but decided to help pupsit → pack moved again (could not fight for beans) → trusted to pupsit solo, Mouse rolled sleight of paw, pups died → Shame.jpg → rolled to defend Diorite → still :( but allowed on the “hey go find the Aspens” search squad with Drove → and now Idril’s giving him a chance
- this dude is gonna have a hell of a final bio
- didn’t necessarily know why Idril gave him a chance as hunter, but he was just glad to be Doing Something again; later realized that was the point
- has presumably reconciled with Drove and has since been doing his best with Hawk’s Eyes
- died in dramatic caribou incident. at least he went out knowing someone (the whole party, and specifically Drove) was looking out for him :,)
- apparently never took a surname but could theoretically have been given it posthumously. idk it’s not a ceremony or anything
Drove Hawkeye
Y1 Summer–Y6 Spring | Aggressive
The sole mainstay of Year 1 Summer among a revolving door of visitors; interrupted Talak and Idril’s grasslands hunt, thus immediately establishing himself as a vicious (and long-needed) finisher. Hunts as an outlet to seemingly endless frustrations, but means well; more grumpy than antagonistic. Fiercely loyal to his family, including the original five members of Hawk’s Eyes (Talak, Idril, himself, Leveret, and Husk), and wants to be a good mentor for pups Liesl and Jackrabbit Aspen.
- along with Leveret, raised to value hunting prowess over individuality, which kinda messed them up
- as an adolescent, barged in on another pack’s hunt; they retaliated and attacked the family, which split them all
- stuck it out as a loner before finding Jackdaw’s Peak
- wanted to be intimidating but then older sister Leveret showed up, which he pretended to be very mad about
- younger bro Jackrabbit also showed up for a lil while
- initially rejected the surname tradition, but was clearly loyal to the hunting party anyway
- when injured, refused to stop altogether; the party slowed their hunting rate as a compromise
- agreed to sire a litter for the Aspens, chosen for strength; after mateship celebrations, took Hawkeye surname
- upon pups’ birth, immediately became extremely attached (and named Jackrabbit after his brother), but (as the sole finisher) couldn’t afford to help as pupsitter
- probably Hallow’s biggest obstacle in joining Hawk’s Eyes
- does he still hunt as an outlet? he’s not necessarily Annoyed By Everything anymore but recent events (pup death, Oriole dying, Leveret leaving) have sure soured his mood again
- oh well, he and Hallow became awkward co-dads anyway and ig things worked out alright. he’s disappointed Jackrabbit left but in a “this isn’t the path in life I wanted from you but it’s not like I lived up to my parents’ expectations either, have some extra training and glhf” way
- then he died trying to save Hallow from an angery caribou yaayyyy
He takes his surname Hawkeye from the hunting party Hawk’s Eyes.
